Annika Hinrichs

Annika is an emerging artist who has recently returned to the stage after several successful years as a professional church musician. Her operatic role highlights include ‘Miss Wordsworth’ in Britten’s Albert Herring, ‘Le Feu’ (the Fire) in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges, and ‘Pamina’ in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and professional engagements have included ‘Belinda’ in Dido and Aeneas, ‘First Lady’ in The Magic Flute, ‘First Nymph’ in Apollo e Dafne, and the role of ‘Princess Slayer’ in Opera Galactica. Annika graduated with Distinction from her Master of Music Studies in Vocal Pedagogy at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2021, in addition to her Graduate Diploma of Opera and Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance from the same institution. She served as a chorister, cantor, and teacher at Brisbane’s Cathedral of St Stephen which culminated in her appointment as the Cathedral’s Assistant Director of Music in 2020; until in 2022, Annika left the position to pursue her growing performance commitments. She continues to have regular concert and oratorio engagements, including as soprano soloist for beloved works such as The Creation (Haydn), Carmina Burana (Orff), Handel’s Messiah, and the Faure Requiem.
