Queensland Baritone Jake Lyle is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Music (Performance) in Classical Voice at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University under the tutelage of Dr Margaret Schindler. During his studies at QCGU, Jake has received the Elizabeth Muir Undergraduate Memorial Award (2022), the Nora Baird Memorial Fund Audition Bursary (2022), the Donald Penman Prize (2024) and Alton Budd Memorial Award Runner Up (2024)
Jake was selected as an Emerging Artist in Residence at Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 2025, where he will get the opportunity to sing as a soloist with the orchestra at QPAC, and on tour to Bundaberg and Townsville. Jake was a Finalist in the IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition in 2024 where he received the Linnhe Robertson Prize and the Nell Pascall award. He has also performed extensively in the opera program at QCGU, this year playing Ulisse in Il Ritorno D’Ulisse in Patria (Monteverdi/Kats-Chernin) directed by Constantine Costi. Other roles include Tonio in I Pagliacci (Leoncavallo) and Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri (Rossini) as part of the Val Machin Opera Scenes and Marco in Gianni Schicci (Puccini) directed by Lindy Hume. In 2023, Jake played Jupiter in scenes from Orpheus in the Underworld (Offenbach) in the context of Val Machin Opera Scenes and main stage opera, Underworld: An Operatic Journey to Hell and Back, with direction and conceptualisation by Michael Gow. In 2024, Jake also participated in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program.
