The Colors of the Human Soul

About this recital

Just as light refracts and disperses through a prism, revealing a spectrum of colors, the human soul is layered with emotions and experiences that make each of us unique. Explore the chromaticism of humankind in this one-night-only performance featuring Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder, reimagined for string quartet and voice, alongside Arvo Pärt’s unique chamber and vocal works, including Fratres, Spiegel im Spiegel, and My Heart’s in the Highlands.

A turning point in Mahler’s compositional journey, Rückert-Lieder reflects themes of love, solitude, and contentment, anticipating his later masterpieces. In this rare arrangement, each song becomes an intimate universe, where voice and strings intertwine with unparalleled poignancy. Pärt’s minimalist style creates a transformative stillness, suspending time with music of breathtaking simplicity and depth. Together, these works promise an evening of introspection and transcendence.

Featuring the “stars of Australian chamber music” and Brisbane’s finest operatic voices, this concert celebrates artistic collaboration, showcasing both established talent and emerging brilliance.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the infinite colors of the human soul through the unparalleled power of live music.
