Having recently returned to Brisbane after completing a Master of Music degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, Toki Onoda is a Japanese-Australian pianist with a versatile career as a performer, accompanist and pedagogue. Over the years, she has received a number of prizes for piano performance including first prize at the Queensland Piano Competition, the Wight Memorial Medal for Piano and the Jefferies Bursary for Music at Brisbane Girls’ Grammar School. During her time undertaking a Bachelor of Music in Performance degree at the Queensland Conservatorium, she was the winner of the 4MBS Chamber Music Prize, Minnie May Bussey Prize, Ruby Cooling Prize, and the Basil Jones Sonata Prize, and was selected to perform alongside the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

 

 In recent years, Toki performed internationally at the Musical Chairs Festival in Canada, the International Chamber Music Festival in Germany, the European Chamber Music Academy in Lithuania, the Ticino Musica Festival in Switzerland, and the Jiri Hlinka Academy in Bergen. She has performed in the Bergen International Festival and the Oslo Chamber Music Festival as well as in masterclasses with pianists such as Leif Ove Andsnes, Paul Lewis, Jan Jiracek von Arnim, Elizabeth Pridonoff and Alexander Madzar.

 

 Her previous professors include internationally renowned pianists Christopher Park, Håvard Gimse, and Oleg Stepanov.
